Just Getting Started
Yes and no. In 2005 I found myself weighing close to 180 pounds - at least that’s the last time I got on the scale before committing to weight loss. I had been heavy before, in 1997, and had to lose weight to be successful in conceiving.
I have a fear of weighing 200 pounds, or more. I’m 5′5″ with a slight build. My dream weight is 145 and in shape. That’s how it was 25 years ago.
Between May 2005 and June 2006 - I lost 30 pounds. January 2008 I was weighing 149 - and then, we moved. My weight shot up to 160 in a mere 4 months - not a happy camper. So I started working at it again and watching what I put in my mouth - but I wasn’t working either so I had time to workout. I managed to get down to 152. However, my weight just won’t stay down there - I get there and I feel how close I am and then the weight shows up again - almost overnight.
So now I’m working at it again. I had this really great plan - weight training 3 days a week and cardio the other days - using Monday as my “off” day. I travel throughout the year and having Monday as my off day seemed the most sensible. I have this great 3 mile walk planned - but the last part of it is uphill - ALL uphill. I have a knee that tends to act up - I’m worried about my safety - excuses. I have tons of DVDs at home - and I love them all - but I don’t sweat! I know sweat is just water loss but it makes me feel like I’ve done something.
We have a Tony Little Gazelle - the basic rendition. It’s easy - absolutely! BUT .. I discovered a way to make it work for me - I wear my 10 pound walking vest while doing it - within 20 minutes I’ve worked up an honest sweat!! I do an hour every night.
